Indosen Australia
Indonesian Senior Community in Australia
Indosen Australia
Indosen Australia (Indonesia Senior in Australia) is a community dedicated to Indonesian seniors and retirees who are living in Australia. Established with the spirit of togetherness, Indosen Australia provides a warm space where Indonesian parents and elders can connect, share, and enjoy meaningful activities during their retirement years.
As one of the most trusted Indonesian senior communities in Australia, we believe that retirement is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new chapter filled with health, happiness, and valuable connections.

Our Journey: From Rockdale to INDOSEN Australia
In 2016, I (Mr. John Har) was appointed as a warden at the Anglican Church in Rockdale.
That moment became the beginning of something special — a mission to bring together Indonesians living in Australia, especially around Sydney.
Together with my wife and several friends — Benny, Ruly, Akin, Tety, Acien, Aloan, Asiu, and many others — we established a community called Anglican Saturday Community Rockdale.
Our main goal was to create a warm place where Indonesians could gather, share joy, and support one another spiritually and socially.
As time went on, in 2018, we were joined by some old friends, Mijuri Wijaya and Akiong, who brought new energy and creativity to our activities.
They introduced line dancing classes and organized picnics to beautiful spots around Sydney, helping us strengthen our friendship and unity.
In 2023, our ministry expanded as we began to serve in evangelism together with Ali and Bella, reaching out to many people across different locations.
Through this experience, our community continued to grow in both spirit and purpose, eventually becoming known as the Hyde Park Evangelism Community.
By July 2025, we decided to adopt a new name that better reflected our identity and togetherness as Indonesians living in Sydney.
Our community officially became INDOSEN Australia (Indonesian Senior Australia) — a name that proudly carries our heritage and unity.
We also moved to a new and more comfortable place — the Storehouse Kogarah Building — where we now hold our regular gatherings.
Every second and last Saturday of the month, we meet for fellowship lunches, line dancing, karaoke, community raffles, and other social activities that strengthen our bond as one big family.
Every Thursday at 11:00 AM, a small group of us also gathers at Hyde Park to share the Good News with everyone — including visitors and tourists from all over the world.
This outreach has become one of our most meaningful ministries.
A bit of history — back in 2000, I was appointed as a member of the Anglican Parish Council in Brighton Le Sands, and from 2002 to 2005, our community temporarily moved from Rockdale to Brighton Le Sands before returning again.
Most recently, in July 2025, Mrs. Vera joined us as an advisor, assisting with administrative matters and helping our senior members manage their council and government paperwork.
Under her guidance, our activities have become even more organized, and the move to Storehouse Kogarah proved to be the right choice — offering a better location and more affordable rent than before.
Today, INDOSEN Australia continues to grow as a place of friendship, faith, and togetherness for the Indonesian community in Sydney.
We are grateful for God’s blessings and for everyone who has been part of this wonderful journey.
